How to Stop Your Battery Drain: Tips for Managing Pre-Installed Google Apps
Optimizing Battery Usage on Android Devices
One instance where battery drain can be a concern is with the Google app, especially when used alongside the Google Chrome browser. The app frequently reloads data, such as updating the Google Discover feed, which can put a constant strain on your device’s battery life.
To determine which apps are consuming the most battery on your device, you can easily check by navigating to Settings > Battery and selecting Battery usage by app. This will provide a detailed breakdown of the apps draining your battery, the duration of their activity, and the power consumption in mAh.

The Google app is a common culprit for draining battery due to its continuous background operation. Other apps like Google Maps, social media platforms, and YouTube also contribute to excessive battery usage.
Tips to Minimize Battery Drain
To prevent the Google app from consuming excessive battery power in the background, you can restrict its permissions. In the Google app settings, navigate to Settings > Additional settings and disable the Discover feed to stop automatic updates.
In your device’s system settings, locate the Google app under Apps > App Management (the path may vary by manufacturer) and choose Manage permissions. Opt for the option to ‘Stop app activity when not in use’ to conserve battery.
If the ‘Stop app activity when not in use’ option is unavailable, return to Settings > Battery > Battery usage by app. Locate the Google app and enable Limit background usage to restrict its background activity.
