Xeltis, a pioneering MedTech company with operations in the Netherlands and the USA, has successfully secured an additional €20.5 million in funding to support its innovative work in developing artificial vessels and valves that are designed to be gradually replaced by the patient’s own living healthy tissue. This latest round of funding saw participation from both new and existing shareholders, with Horizon 3 Healthcare leading the investment alongside other notable backers such as the European Innovation Council, Invest-NL, VI Partners, EQT Life Sciences, DaVita, and more.

Eliane Schutte, the Chief Executive Officer of Xeltis, expressed her enthusiasm for the funding, highlighting the opportunities it presents for the company’s continued growth and expansion. She emphasized the importance of the funding in furthering Xeltis’ mission to provide innovative alternatives for patients in need of vascular access solutions. The company, founded in 2006, focuses on developing implants that promote the natural creation of living and durable vessels, addressing the challenges faced by millions of patients requiring hemodialysis vascular access or cardiovascular replacements annually.

Xeltis’ proprietary Restorex® platform leverages advanced polymer implants that are transformed into the patient’s own tissue over time, ultimately leaving behind new, living vessels that support improved long-term clinical outcomes. The company’s flagship product, aXess™, has already received CE Mark approval and is currently being deployed commercially across Europe. With a focus on enhancing patient outcomes and reducing the need for repeat interventions, Xeltis is dedicated to addressing significant unmet needs in vascular access and other cardiovascular diseases.

Matt McNamara, Chief Investment Officer of Horizon 3 Healthcare, commended Xeltis’ progress and the potential of aXess™ to revolutionize hemodialysis access treatment. The company’s strong execution and compelling data have garnered support for its US clinical development and European commercialization efforts. The recent funding round builds upon previous investments, including €50 million from the European Investment Bank and additional support from Grand Pharma in 2022.

Looking ahead, Xeltis plans to use the newly secured capital to advance its US pivotal trial for aXess™, prepare for FDA submission, and expand its European commercial rollout. The funding will also support the scaling of manufacturing capabilities and the progression of the company’s XABG and XPAD programs. Recent milestones include the successful European launch of aXess™ and ongoing enrollment in the US pivotal trial, which has surpassed 50% completion.

In conclusion, Xeltis’ innovative approach to vascular access technology holds great promise for improving patient outcomes and addressing critical healthcare needs. The company’s commitment to advancing its groundbreaking solutions underscores its dedication to transforming the field of MedTech.
