Lab-free testing moves closer to home as Germany's Intu Diagnostics raises €1.1 million

Intu Diagnostics, a innovative startup based in Leipzig, has recently completed a strategic bridge round of €1.1 million, bringing their total funding to over €3 million. The funding round was supported by BSV Ventures, SAB (Saxonian Development Bank), and business angels. The funds will be utilized to enhance Intu Diagnostics’ intellectual property position, conduct pilot manufacturing trials, and prepare for scale-up in anticipation of their upcoming Seed round.

The company aims to revolutionize molecular diagnostics with their lab-free platform, introducing the concept of ‘LAB-TO-GO’ to deliver high-quality testing directly to the patient’s doorstep. This approach eliminates the need for a physical laboratory facility, making testing more accessible and convenient.

Intu Diagnostics’ strategic bridge round is part of a larger trend in the diagnostics and HealthTech sector, with total funding in 2026 reaching approximately €84 million. Other notable funding rounds in the industry include ShanX Medtech, Xyall, Moonlight AI, and Xsensio, highlighting the growing interest in innovative healthcare technologies.

Founded in 2023 as a spin-off from the Fraunhofer Society, Intu Diagnostics is focused on developing a decentralized molecular diagnostics platform that can be used in various settings, including at home, in clinics, and in resource-limited environments. Their technology is initially targeting HPV testing in women’s health, with plans to expand to other infectious diseases in the future.

The company’s platform offers molecular-level diagnostic quality, independence from traditional laboratory infrastructure, and versatility for different testing scenarios. By enabling completely lab-free molecular diagnostics, Intu Diagnostics aims to streamline infectious disease testing and make it more accessible to a wider population.

The recent bridge round will enable Intu Diagnostics to achieve key technical and commercial milestones, including IP protection, pilot manufacturing, validation activities, and preparation for future scale-up. These milestones are crucial for the company’s growth and success as they move towards their upcoming Seed financing round.

In Germany, companies like NanoStruct are also making strides in rapid bacterial detection, showcasing the country’s leadership in innovative healthcare technologies. Intu Diagnostics’ innovative approach to molecular diagnostics positions them as a key player in the industry, with the potential to transform how infectious diseases are diagnosed and managed in the future.
