iOS 27 Report: Introducing Enhanced Bill Splitting Feature in Wallet App
Apple is set to unveil iOS 27 at WWDC in just a week, with another exciting feature being leaked: the ability for iPhone users to split bills using Apple Wallet by simply taking a photo of a receipt.
The new feature, as reported by Bloomberg, will allow users to snap a picture of a receipt and allocate items to different individuals. This will enable the generation of payment requests, making it convenient for everyone to pay their share of the bill.
This functionality will be linked to Apple Cash, the company’s peer-to-peer payment service akin to Venmo. Users can access it within the Wallet app or the Messages app on iOS 27, and it will also be compatible with Apple Watch.
Apple Inc. is expanding its financial tools with this new service, which will simplify splitting bills for group dinners or events. Users can photograph a receipt, assign items to specific people, and create payment requests, including item costs, taxes, and tips.
This upcoming feature is the latest addition to the rumored enhancements for Apple Wallet in iOS 27. Earlier leaks suggested that the Wallet app will support the conversion of physical passes into digital ones. For instance, users might be able to digitize their gym membership barcode by taking a photo and storing it in Apple Wallet.
What are your thoughts on Apple’s rumored upgrades for the Wallet app in iOS 27? Which features are you most looking forward to trying out? Share your opinions in the comments section below.
