iPhone Camera 27: Siri Mode Unleashed with Advanced Visual Intelligence
Exciting updates are on the horizon for Siri, with Apple reserving a major upgrade for the unveiling of iOS 27 in June. Reports suggest that one of the most popular iPhone apps is set to benefit from this upgrade, with new Siri features expected to enhance the Camera app and introduce improvements in Visual Intelligence.
Siri mode coming to the Camera app in iOS 27
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is working on a new Siri Camera Mode that will make its debut in iOS 27.
Apple Inc. is planning to embed artificial intelligence more deeply into the iPhone’s camera app, adding a new Siri mode alongside the standard photo and video options in its upcoming iOS 27 operating system.
Gurman further explains that Apple intends to integrate its Visual Intelligence feature, currently associated with the Camera Control button, directly into the camera app to enhance the discoverability of this AI feature.
Currently, Visual Intelligence can also be accessed through the Control Center.
Initially introduced for iPhones without a Camera Control button, Visual Intelligence can be linked to the Lock Screen or Action button but is notably absent from the Camera app in iOS 26.
Gurman describes Siri mode as an advanced iteration of Visual Intelligence, with the current feature connecting to ChatGPT and Google Image Search.
He reveals that Apple is revamping the experience with a new shutter button modeled after the Apple Intelligence logo in iOS 27.
While the Camera Control shortcut for accessing Visual Intelligence will remain, the integration of the feature into the Camera app will make it more accessible to a wider user base.
Visual Intelligence feature will include an upgrade
Furthermore, the report indicates that Siri mode will enhance the existing Visual Intelligence features.
For instance, iOS 27 will introduce the capability to scan nutrition labels on food packaging to track dietary information or to add contact details by scanning relevant information. For more details, refer to the latest Bloomberg report.
These recent revelations follow Gurman’s previous report on Apple’s plans to introduce three new AI-related features in the Photos app.
Apple is set to enhance Siri across the entire system, including the introduction of a standalone app and a persistent chatbot-like experience. Additionally, Siri may soon be able to interpret multiple actions from a single command.
Earlier this year, Apple struck a deal with Google to utilize Gemini models to enhance personal Siri features and upcoming Apple Intelligence functionalities.
The official unveiling of iOS 27, featuring the new Siri, is scheduled for Monday, June 8, coinciding with the commencement of WWDC, Apple’s annual developer conference at Apple Park in Cupertino, California.
