Kalshi’s Meteoric Rise: Doubling Valuation to $22 Billion in Just 5 Months
Prediction Market Startup Kalshi Raises $1 Billion in Series F Funding, Valued at $22 Billion
In a groundbreaking development, Kalshi, a prominent prediction market startup, has recently secured a substantial $1 billion in Series F funding. This latest funding round has propelled the company’s valuation to an impressive $22 billion, marking a significant milestone in its growth trajectory. Notably, this valuation represents a remarkable doubling of Kalshi’s previous valuation of $11 billion, which was achieved just five months ago following a successful $1 billion Series E funding round. The Series F funding was spearheaded by Coatue, with notable participation from industry giants such as Sequoia, Andreessen Horowitz, and Paradigm.
According to reports from Bloomberg, Kalshi has disclosed that its annualized revenue has surpassed the $1.5 billion mark, underscoring the company’s robust financial performance and market position.
The Rise of Prediction Markets: Kalshi and Polymarket
Kalshi, in conjunction with its competitor Polymarket, has played a pivotal role in driving the surge of prediction markets, where consumers engage in predictive betting on a diverse range of outcomes. These markets encompass various events, spanning from fashion trends at high-profile gatherings like the Met Gala to the outcomes of sporting events.
In a recent blog post, Kalshi highlighted the exponential growth in institutional trading activity on its platform, citing an impressive 800% increase in the past six months alone. Furthermore, the company emphasized its dominant position in the U.S. prediction market landscape, accounting for a substantial 90% of market activity. Meanwhile, Polymarket has been actively working to address regulatory challenges in the U.S. market, following restrictions imposed in 2022.
