The 1 Millionth BMW M Car Celebrates a Milestone in Munich

A significant moment was marked at the BMW Group plant in Munich, Germany, as the one-millionth BMW M car rolled off the production line. This milestone vehicle, a stunning Fire Orange M3 Competition, embodies the legacy of BMW’s high-performance M division.

Franciscus van Meel, CEO of BMW M, highlighted the enduring appeal of BMW M vehicles, stating, “BMW M combines road and racetrack capabilities with everyday practicality. The one-millionth BMW M vehicle shows that these values are still very much appreciated by our customers, 40 years after the market launch of the first BMW M3.”

The roots of BMW’s M performance vehicle division trace back to 1972, with the first M3 production at the Munich plant over 40 years ago. The factory is currently undergoing a major transformation, with a substantial investment of around 650 million euros aimed at producing fully electric vehicles on site.

Looking ahead to 2027, BMW’s Munich plant is gearing up to manufacture the first-ever all-electric M3. To accommodate this new direction, the company is establishing new production buildings, including a state-of-the-art body shop, assembly areas, and logistics facilities.

Stay tuned for more exciting developments from BMW as they continue to push the boundaries of automotive innovation.
