OMass Therapeutics Secures €275 Million Series C Funding Round
OMass Therapeutics, a leading UK biotech company specializing in the development of small molecule therapeutics targeting validated target ecosystems, has recently announced the successful completion of an oversubscribed €275 million (£230 million) Series C funding round.
The funding round was co-led by prominent new investors including Bain Capital Life Sciences, Forbion, and Novo Holdings, with additional contributions from Janus Henderson Investors, SV Health Investors, and Jefferson Life Sciences. Existing investors such as Syncona, Oxford Science Enterprises, GV, Northpond Ventures, Sanofi Ventures, British Business Bank, and the University of Oxford also participated in the round.
Ros Deegan, the Chief Executive Officer of OMass Therapeutics, expressed excitement about the financing, stating, “This financing marks a significant milestone in OMass’ journey as we progress OMS1620 into clinical development, with our SLC15A4 inhibitor on the horizon.”
Deegan further highlighted the company’s ability to discover and deliver a pipeline of innovative programs in endocrinology and immunology, emphasizing the potential impact on patient care.
The Series C funding for OMass comes amidst a wave of substantial funding rounds in the European therapeutics landscape in 2026.
In France, Bionyra Pharma secured €143 million for inflammatory disease treatments, while Denmark’s Breye Therapeutics raised €67.5 million for its oral small-molecule pipeline, with Novo Holdings as a co-lead investor.
In the UK, various companies like STORM Therapeutics, Microbiotica, Mironid, and Alchemab Therapeutics secured significant funding rounds, reflecting a total of approximately €374.7 million in reported financing for the year, with OMass’ contribution totaling €649.7 million.
Evan Greif, Principal at Bain Capital Life Sciences, praised OMass for its experienced team and strategic vision in developing therapeutics for patients with unmet medical needs, particularly in endocrinology and immunology.
The company’s lead program, OMS1620, a potential best-in-class MC2 receptor antagonist, is set to advance through Phase 2 clinical development for congenital adrenal hyperplasia and ACTH-dependent Cushing’s syndrome.
OMass’ innovative approach leverages its proprietary OdyssION drug discovery platform, combining native mass spectrometry, biochemistry techniques, and custom chemistry to target drug candidates effectively within their native environments.
Max Klement, Partner at Novo Holdings, acknowledged the significant potential of OMass’ drug candidates in addressing unmet patient needs and expressed confidence in the company’s continued progress.
The funding will also support the development of a potential first-in-class SLC15A4 inhibitor for lupus and other diseases associated with interferon overproduction and pathogenic B-cell activation, expanding OMass’ pipeline of promising therapies.
