Protect Your Phone: Five Android Settings You Should Turn Off Immediately
2. How I Prevented Wi-Fi Auto-Connecting to Unfamiliar Networks

Your smartphone has a habit of automatically reconnecting to known Wi-Fi networks, including your home and office networks. However, it also tends to connect to networks you may not recognize, such as old coffee shops or hotels you visited in the past. This happens because your device saves the network information once you join it, leading to automatic connections when in range.
To manage this, you can review your list of saved networks and disable auto-reconnect for any unfamiliar or unused ones. Many people have numerous saved networks but only actively use a few of them.
I recently had a security scare when I inadvertently connected to a cafe’s Wi-Fi network where I had previously checked my banking details. This incident prompted me to review and manage my saved networks, realizing that I could only identify a handful out of the thirty listed.
3. Preventing Nearby Device Scanning for Enhanced Privacy

An often overlooked setting is the ability of Android devices to scan for nearby Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices even when these features are turned off from the quick settings panel. This continuous scanning, aimed at improving location accuracy and reconnection speed, keeps your device’s radio active in the background.
