Revolutionary Tech: Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 Unveiled

During Apple’s “Surprise and Shine” event today, in addition to showcasing the iPhone 18 Pro lineup and the highly anticipated iPhone Duo, they also introduced new models of the Apple Watch – the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. The new wearables bring the expected iterative design changes, but also include a new Health Sensing System and S11 chip that elevate the capabilities of the Apple Watch.

The Health Sensing System includes a redesigned optical heart sensor that now provides continuous heart rate monitoring for the first time ever. This major upgrade moves away from Apple’s previous method of only monitoring heart rate during workouts. The new sensor, paired with a third-generation electrical heart sensor and the S11 chip, offers the most accurate heart rate sensing in a wearable, as validated by an Apple Watch Heart Rate Accuracy Study.

The Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 will also offer higher frequency heart rate readings, heart rate variability measurements every five minutes, and a new complication to view real-time heart rate throughout the day. The Readiness app will provide users with a simplified score based on their activity, training load, vitals, and sleep score to guide their fitness progress.

Beyond health features, the new Apple Watch models will also include Audio Intelligence capabilities, allowing for features like Live Rewind and Siri Recap. These features aim to enhance the audio experience on the Apple Watch without compromising user privacy.

Despite recent price increases on other Apple products, the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 will maintain the same prices as their predecessors. The Apple Watch Series 12, with prices starting at $399, offers a variety of finishes including black, space gray, dark bronze, and light gold aluminum, as well as radiant gold, natural titanium, pearl white, and night blue ceramic. The titanium models begin at $699, while the ceramic models start at $899. Both the titanium and ceramic models are GPS + Cellular versions, with a premium of only $200 over the equivalent aluminum model.

On the other hand, the Apple Watch Ultra 4 maintains the same starting price of $799 as the Ultra 3 and is available in black and natural titanium. All of the new Apple Watch models are now available for pre-order and are set to be released on September 18.
