Stealthy Innovations: Invisix Secures €20 Million Seed Funding to Revolutionize Chip Manufacturing
Invisix, a semiconductor metrology company based in Eindhoven, has successfully completed an oversubscribed Seed round, raising €20 million. The funding round was supported by prominent investors such as Hitachi Ventures, Transition Ventures, imec.xpand, Doosan Investment Co., and a tier-1 semiconductor manufacturer.
Christina Porter, PhD, the co-founder and CEO of Invisix, emphasized the importance of advanced metrology tools in chip manufacturing. She highlighted the need for innovative technologies that can provide detailed insights into the complex structures of modern chips without causing damage. Invisix, a spin-out from ASML, was established in 2025 by Christina Porter and Sietse van der Post to commercialize a decade of soft x-ray metrology research. The company’s technology utilizes short-wavelength, broadband soft x-ray scatterometry to analyze the intricate 3D structure of next-generation semiconductor devices efficiently.
Invisix’s unique approach to metrology involves the use of High Harmonic Generation (HHG), a process recognized by the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics. By combining HHG with proprietary reconstruction algorithms and machine learning, Invisix can reconstruct the detailed 3D internal structure of devices in a non-destructive manner. This innovative system allows chipmakers to measure challenging layers at scale, offering a high-throughput solution that surpasses existing measurement tools.
The company’s research history includes collaborations with industry experts and a successful demonstration of its technology in partnership with Intel and imec. Invisix’s commitment to advancing semiconductor manufacturing has attracted the attention of investors like Transition Ventures, who recognize the company’s potential to address critical bottlenecks in chip production.
With the recent funding, Invisix plans to expand its team, accelerate product development, and conduct customer demonstrations at a new clean room facility in Eindhoven. The company’s relocation of its soft x-ray testbench demonstrates its dedication to advancing metrology technology for the semiconductor industry.
Transition Ventures, a London-based investment firm, has shown confidence in Invisix’s capabilities by supporting the company’s growth. With a strong focus on developing cutting-edge metrology solutions, Invisix is poised to make a significant impact on the semiconductor industry and drive innovation in chip manufacturing.
