Why the Base Pixel 11 Stands Out

If you’re not into foldable phones, the Pro Fold may not catch your eye. Surprisingly, it’s the basic Pixel 11 that piques my interest the most.

Here are three reasons why I believe the base Pixel 11 is the standout choice.

Not Your Average Highlight

Let’s start off with a controversial topic.

When rumors about the Pixel 11 series began circulating, there was a buzz around the ‘Pixel Glow’ lights that were said to be included on the back of the phone. Could we really expect a customizable, glowing LED light ring around the camera module, similar to Gemini’s concept?

As it turns out, the feature is not called Pixel Glow and is named ‘HiLight.’ It seems underwhelming and falls short of expectations. HiLight is reminiscent of the ‘Glyph’ lights found on Nothing phones, creating various patterns based on different scenarios like incoming calls or when Gemini is active.

However, at launch, HiLight feels incomplete, with Google promising additional features in the future. For now, it lacks the excitement it initially generated.
