Uncovering the Pixel Phone Battery Drain Issue in the March Update

If your Pixel’s battery is draining rapidly recently, the cause may now be known.

Since the March Pixel update, some Google Pixel users have been experiencing excessive battery drain.

On Reddit and Google’s support forums, users of various Google phones such as the Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10, and Pixel 7 Pro are sharing their experiences of their phones running out of battery by evening.

What’s causing the issue?

Fortunately, a Redditor seems to have identified the cause. According to Android Police, the March update introduced a bug that prevents some Pixel CPUs from entering Deep Doze mode.

Deep Doze is a state that puts your phone into a power-efficient idle mode, pausing background apps and reducing performance until needed.

The affected Pixel phones are stuck in a continuous loop that triggers four times per second, leading to inefficient battery usage.

While identifying the problem is a step forward, solving it is another challenge. Google has not yet acknowledged the bug, so the best course of action is to upvote the defect request on Google’s Issue Tracker to bring attention to the issue.

Despite the rollout of the April Pixel update aimed at fixing bugs, this specific issue remains unresolved, requiring patience from users for a solution.

Perhaps the May Pixel update will address this issue.

Update 22/04/26: Google has recognized the Pixel battery drain problem on its Issue Tracker (linked above), but a fix is still pending.
