According to a Google representative, the Google Photos team is actively working towards rolling out a solution to address the problem promptly.

The urgency of the situation is evident, but users are urged not to halt their photo editing activities while awaiting the resolution.

To work around the Google Photos bug until the fix is deployed, Google recommends taking specific actions.

One approach is to select “Save as copy” when saving an edited photo in Google Photos to preserve the original image.

Alternatively, if you must delete or share an edited photo, it’s advised to use the Google Photos website instead of the app.
