The Latest Teaser for Xiaomi’s 18 Series Launch Event Takes a Dig at Google

A recent teaser for the official Xiaomi 18 series launch event has surfaced on Weibo, and it seems to subtly criticize Google. The Pixel 11 Pro range introduced a HiLight feature embedded in the camera flash, which can only indicate incoming calls or turn blue while Gemini is thinking.

On the other hand, Xiaomi has confirmed that its upcoming 18 Pro model will boast a “brand-new, versatile back screen.” While Xiaomi has previously offered rear screens, a recent video showcasing colors dancing around the edges and the Chinese text “Generating” hints at Xiaomi’s innovative approach.

The dynamic light display on the rear screen of the Xiaomi 18 Pro mirrors what one might anticipate from Google’s implementation on the Pixel 11. This suggests that Xiaomi’s new feature could potentially outshine HiLight (previously known as Pixel Glow), even without considering the screen’s other capabilities.

Additionally, the Xiaomi 18 Pro is expected to feature three rear cameras, similar to the setup on the Xiaomi 17 Pro.

There is curiosity surrounding the potential launch locations for the Xiaomi 18 Pro. While Western markets like the UK typically receive flagship Xiaomi phones, the availability may vary. Reports suggest that Xiaomi might exclude the Ultra model from its lineup, similar to what Oppo is doing. This decision could impact top camera phone enthusiasts, but it may lead to the introduction of the Pro and Pro Max models in select markets.
