Microsoft is bringing a built-in network speed test to Windows 11

Exciting New Features Coming to Windows 11

Microsoft is currently working on a range of innovative features for Windows 11. One of the most notable additions is a new network speed test tool that will be easily accessible from the taskbar. This tool will be included in an upcoming update for Windows 11 Insiders in the Release Preview Channel. Users will be able to conveniently check their network speed by simply right-clicking on the network icon in the system tray and selecting the speed test option, which will then open in their default browser.

With this new feature, users will have the ability to test the speed of their Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or cellular data connections. Microsoft initially began testing this feature last year, and it promises to offer a more convenient alternative to using third-party websites to check network speeds.

In addition to the network speed test tool, Microsoft is introducing a new camera settings option in the Settings menu. This feature will allow users to control the pan and tilt functions for supported cameras, although specific device compatibility details have not been disclosed. Furthermore, Windows 11 will be receiving new emoji additions, a comprehensive Widget settings menu, and the ability to set .webp files as desktop backgrounds.

To experience these exciting updates, users can access the Release Preview Channel. The updates are currently being rolled out to Windows 11 versions 24H2 (Build 26100) and 25H2 (Build 26200).
