Marathon Open Preview Weekend Announced by Bungie
With the release of Marathon just around the corner, Bungie has exciting news for gamers. A “server slam” open preview weekend is set to occur from February 26th to March 2nd, giving players a taste of the game’s extraction shooter experience before the official launch on March 5th.
This preview weekend will serve as a sneak peek into Marathon’s gameplay, featuring a glimpse of what players can expect in terms of maps, factions, contracts, and more. While additional content will be available in the full game and Season 1, this event aims to provide a demo for players and stress-test the game’s servers.
Key highlights of the Server Slam include:
- Infiltration into two zones
- Engaging in opening contracts for five factions
- Testing all six Runner Shells, along with Rook in scavenger mode
- Access to solo queue, proximity chat, and more
What to Expect in Season 1:
- Introduction of two additional zones
- Unlocking full contract and progression trees for all six factions
- Introduction of ranked mode

Participants in the Server Slam can earn rewards that will carry over to the full release, including a special emblem and banner showcasing their participation. Additionally, players can earn a launch bundle featuring weapons, body implants, and more.
PlayStation Plus subscribers have an added bonus, as they can claim a trio of weapon charms.
