Microsoft Ignite 2022: The Ultimate Developer Conference Returns to San Francisco
Microsoft’s Build Developer Conference Moves to San Francisco
Microsoft has decided to relocate its annual Build developer conference from Seattle to San Francisco, specifically at Fort Mason. This move aims to tap into the AI excitement in the San Francisco Bay Area and create a more intimate atmosphere for the event.
Focus on Developer Interaction
Kyle Daigle, GitHub’s chief operating officer, highlighted the importance of a more personalized experience for attendees. By limiting the number of developers to 2,500 this year (compared to previous years’ attendance of 3,000 to 5,000), Microsoft aims to enhance the interaction between participants and focus on their needs.
Transition to a Developer-Focused Event
The shift to San Francisco signifies a broader change in the nature of Build as a conference. Rather than solely focusing on Windows-related announcements, Microsoft aims to provide developers with practical insights on how to utilize their tools effectively.
Enhanced Speaker Lineup
In addition to Microsoft’s own speakers, Build will feature external experts like Simon Willison and Priyanka Sharma. This diverse lineup aims to offer a varied range of perspectives and insights to attendees.
Community-Centric Experience
Attendees can expect a more community-focused developer experience at Build this year. The event will encourage collaboration and learning among developers, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared knowledge.
Future Plans and Learnings
Despite the move to San Francisco, Microsoft remains open to returning to Seattle in the future. The decision to change venues is driven by a desire to explore new opportunities and gather feedback from different audiences to enhance future iterations of the conference.
