Cognizant TriZetto Data Breach Exposes Health Data of 3.4 Million Patients
TriZetto Provider Solutions, a leading healthcare IT company under the Cognizant umbrella, recently revealed a significant data breach that impacted over 3.4 million individuals. The breach, detected on a web portal in October 2025, involved unauthorized access that began almost a year prior, on November 19, 2024.
During the breach period, threat actors gained access to records related to insurance eligibility verification transactions, potentially compromising sensitive information such as full names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, health insurance member numbers, and more.
Affected individuals, totaling 3,433,965, were notified starting in early February 2026. While no financial data was exposed, TriZetto has offered affected individuals free credit monitoring and identity protection services for 12 months as a precautionary measure.
The company reassured that there have been no reported cases of cybercriminals misusing the exposed information. Following the incident, TriZetto has enhanced its cybersecurity measures and collaborated with law enforcement agencies to address the breach.
Background and Response
TriZetto’s parent company, Cognizant, faced previous cybersecurity challenges, including a rumored Maze ransomware breach in 2020. In a separate incident, Clorox filed a lawsuit against Cognizant for negligence after a security breach in 2023.
Preventing Future Incidents
Despite the breach, TriZetto remains vigilant in safeguarding its systems and data. The company has not attributed the breach to any ransomware groups and no data leaks have surfaced on underground forums related to the incident.
Conclusion
As cybersecurity threats evolve, organizations like TriZetto are continuously enhancing their defenses to protect sensitive information. By promptly addressing breaches and offering support to affected individuals, companies can mitigate risks and uphold data security.
