Google Launches New Chrome Feature for Reusing AI Prompts

Google has introduced a new Chrome workflow feature that enables users to reuse their favorite Gemini commands across multiple webpages. This feature allows any AI prompts to be saved as “Skills” in the Chrome desktop browser, making it possible to instantly run them on selected tabs.

According to Chrome product manager Hafsah Ismail, prior to this feature, repeating an AI task on different pages required users to re-enter the same prompt each time. With the launch of Skills in Chrome, users can now save and reuse their most helpful AI prompts with a single click, streamlining the process.

The rollout of Skills is starting today for Chrome users with their language set to US English. Once users have access to the feature, they can manage it by typing a forward slash ( / ) in Gemini and clicking the compass icon. AI prompts can be saved as Skills directly from the Gemini chat history on desktop, and can then be reused on any other desktop devices signed into the same Google account on Chrome.

The goal of this feature is to eliminate the need for Chrome users to manually retype frequently used Gemini prompts or copy and paste them from a saved list. Early testers have already created Skills for tasks such as calculating nutritional information from online recipes and comparing product specifications across multiple tabs while shopping, as reported by Google.

In addition to allowing users to create their own Skills, Google is launching a library of preset Skills that can be saved and customized to better suit individual needs. These ready-to-use Skills provide a convenient starting point for users, without the need to create their own from scratch.
