Assassin’s Creed Hexe Loses Game Director Amidst Studio Changes

The highly anticipated game Assassin’s Creed Hexe has recently faced a significant shakeup as it loses its game director, Benoit Richer. This news comes following the departure of the game’s creative director, Clint Hocking, earlier this year. Richer took to his personal LinkedIn to announce his new role as Game Director at Servo Games, an indie studio founded by industry veterans with a strong vision for game development. The studio’s co-founders, including Richer, have previously worked on various Ubisoft projects, hinting at their experience and expertise in the gaming industry.

Despite Richer’s move to a new studio, details surrounding his departure from Ubisoft and his role on Hexe remain unclear. His LinkedIn profile indicates that he was still with the company as recently as this month, leaving fans speculating about the reasons behind his decision to leave. It is also unknown who will be stepping into the vacant game director position. Following Hocking’s exit, Jean Guesdon was appointed as the new creative director, signaling a period of transition for the Assassin’s Creed Hexe development team.

Ubisoft’s recent update on the game hinted at a unique and darker narrative-driven Assassin’s Creed experience set in a pivotal moment in history. Speculation suggests that the game may be centered around the Holy Roman Empire witch trials, adding an intriguing twist to the franchise. With the game’s announcement dating back four years, fans are eager for more details and gameplay footage to showcase the progress made on Hexe.

It is important to note that Ubisoft has undergone significant restructuring in recent months, resulting in layoffs and the cancellation of several projects, including the highly anticipated Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. These changes within the company have raised concerns about the future of Assassin’s Creed Hexe and other upcoming titles in Ubisoft’s lineup.
