Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian announcing Apple partnership at Google Cloud Next '26.

Apple has collaborated with Google to develop the next-generation Siri, but there has been skepticism regarding its release date. Despite Apple’s promises of Siri improvements for almost two years, details have been scarce. Apple CEO Tim Cook has vaguely mentioned that the enhanced Siri is expected to debut in 2026.

At the 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple introduced a more personalized Siri as part of its Apple Intelligence features in iOS 18. While the exact release date was not specified, it was anticipated to be included in iOS 18.4, set for early 2025. However, the new features were gradually rolled out in subsequent updates, with the full implementation not achieved until iOS 18.3 in January 2025.

The personalized Siri was initially planned for iOS 18.4 but was delayed to a later release, ultimately missing the mark with iOS 26.4. Apple admitted that the feature would not be included in any iOS 18 updates and postponed it to the next major release, which was named iOS 26. However, even iOS 26.4 did not introduce the new Siri, leading to speculation that iOS 27 would be the target release.

Despite the delays, Google has reassured users that the enhanced Siri is on track for a later release. During Google Cloud Next ’26, Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian confirmed the collaboration with Apple to develop the more personalized Siri, scheduled for later in the year.

While some may be skeptical due to past delays, reports suggest that Apple has made significant progress with Siri, especially with the incorporation of Google’s technology. The current challenges mainly involve testing and refinement, rather than fundamental flaws as seen in early 2025.

The upcoming WWDC26 is highly anticipated, as it may showcase the long-awaited Siri improvements in iOS 27. Rumors suggest that Apple may introduce a standalone Siri app with interactive chatbot capabilities, similar to Google’s Gemini and ChatGPT.

Overall, the partnership between Apple and Google holds promise for a more advanced Siri experience, showcasing the potential of AI technology in enhancing user interactions.

Earlier this year, we announced a monumental partnership with one of the world’s most iconic brands that will bring the power of our technology to users everywhere around the world. We’re collaborating with Apple as a preferred cloud provider to developer the next generation of Apple Foundation models based on Gemini technology. These models will help power future Apple Intelligence features, including a more personalized Siri coming later this year.
