In summary:

The Galaxy Z Fold 8, as reported by Tech Advisor, is set to feature six major upgrades, including a slimmer design at 4.1mm, lighter weight at 200g, and a larger 5,000mAh battery.

Notable improvements consist of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, 45W fast charging, and an enhanced 50Mp ultra-wide camera system.

Samsung’s upcoming July Unpacked event is anticipated to unveil these foldable enhancements, potentially strengthening competition in the premium smartphone market.

Samsung is expected to unveil its next lineup of foldable phones at an Unpacked event on July 22, with several details already circulating.

A recent report from Greek site Techmaniacs has provided alleged specifications for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold Wide (also known as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide).

According to the report, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 may not see as significant an upgrade as the Galaxy Z Fold 7, but it will still come with notable enhancements.

One of the anticipated changes is a slimmer and lighter design, measuring 4.1mm in thickness and just over 210g in weight.

Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is said to be powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip found in the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.

The camera setup is expected to be similar to the Fold 7, with a 200Mp main camera and dual 10Mp selfie cameras. However, the ultra-wide camera is set to receive an upgrade from 12Mp to 50Mp, potentially enhancing image quality.

A significant upgrade for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the rumored increase in battery capacity from 4,400mAh to 5,000mAh. This could be complemented by improved wired charging, with Samsung moving from 25W to 45W, addressing a previous criticism of slow charging.

With six key upgrades in total, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to provide a substantial quality-of-life improvement without revolutionary changes.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Wide specs

Regarding the Galaxy Z Fold Wide, a new category of wide foldables, the report suggests that both the wide and ultra-wide cameras will be 50Mp (no telephoto lens expected).

The device is projected to have a 4,800mAh battery, support 45W charging, and weigh around 200g.

The report also mentions a 7.6-inch internal screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio, resembling a smaller iPad and hinting at a similar form factor for the upcoming iPhone Fold from Apple.

Anticipation is building for Samsung’s next Unpacked event rumored to occur in July, with exciting developments on the horizon.
