In a groundbreaking achievement, BYD’s Yangwang U9 Xtreme has secured its position as the fastest electric hypercar by setting a new lap record at the Nurburgring Nordschleife. This Chinese EV has been making waves in the automotive world, surpassing even the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ in terms of speed.

The record-breaking moment occurred when the Yangwang U9 Xtreme completed a lap of the infamous ‘Green Hell’ in an astonishing time of 6 minutes and 59.157 seconds, solidifying its place in history.

Revolutionary Technology and Performance

The Yangwang U9 Track Edition, built on the e4 platform, boasts a cutting-edge 1200V ultra-high-voltage architecture, a pioneering feature in mass-produced vehicles.

Equipped with four electric motors capable of operating at 30,000 rpm and delivering a staggering 744 hp per motor, the U9 achieves a combined output of nearly 3000 hp. This results in an exceptional power-to-weight ratio of 1205 hp per tonne, setting new standards in performance.
