Revolutionizing Frontline Workforce Management: Orbio Secures $21 Million for Automated Hiring and Onboarding Solutions
Revolutionizing Workforce Management with Orbio
With a decade of experience at Amazon and Colvin, Sergi Bastardas noticed a significant gap in efficiently managing frontline workers. This realization led him, alongside co-founders Nacho Travesí and Antonio Melé, to launch Orbio in 2025. Orbio is an innovative enterprise startup that leverages AI agents to assist businesses in managing their frontline employees.
Recently, the company secured a $21 million Series A funding round led by Dawn Capital. Orbio’s clientele already includes major brands like Poke and YUM! Brands, who utilize the platform for onboarding and managing their frontline workforce. Bastardas shared that customers are transitioning from pilot phases to full deployment, citing The Stepping Stones Group as an example where Orbio successfully operates the company’s entire US operations.
Orbio’s AI agents, Maria, Daniel, and Claire, play crucial roles in the recruitment and management process. These agents conduct interviews, evaluate candidate suitability, monitor employee performance, and conduct regular check-ins. The ultimate objective is to enable businesses to autonomously manage their workforce while providing support and engagement through AI assistance.
Bastardas emphasized the interconnected nature of Orbio’s agents, where data generated by each agent contributes to optimizing workforce operations. From onboarding to exit interviews, the platform’s AI capabilities offer valuable insights that enhance recruitment quality, retention strategies, and engagement levels.
While Orbio competes with other startups like Paradox and WorkJam in the workforce management space, Bastardas views the traditional approach as the primary competitor. Legacy methods of managing frontline workers, often involving manual processes like spreadsheets and phone calls, are rapidly being replaced by AI-driven solutions.
Having raised $26 million in funding from investors like Visionaries and 2100 Ventures, Orbio plans to expand its AI agent capabilities further. The additional capital will be allocated towards hiring and developing more AI agents, aiming to revolutionize how businesses engage and support their frontline workforce.
Bastardas envisions this transformation not only benefiting businesses but also empowering the 2.7 billion frontline workers in sectors like healthcare, retail, logistics, and hospitality. Through Orbio, these essential workers, many of whom lack corporate resources, will have access to AI-driven tools that enhance their work experience.
