Koenigsegg’s Surprise Hypercar Reveal at Aurora Concours

Koenigsegg enthusiasts are in for a treat at the upcoming Aurora Concours event in Båstad, Sweden, scheduled for June 26-28. The organizers have teased a “Surprise Hypercar Reveal” set for 11:00 am on Friday, sparking speculation among car enthusiasts.

Speculations suggest that the surprise hypercar could be a unique one-off creation from Koenigsegg, possibly a Regera model featuring a manual gearbox – a departure from the standard automatic transmission.

The manual Regera variant is reportedly being custom-built for FIA President Mohammad Ben Sulayem, featuring Koenigsegg’s innovative Engage Shift System (ESS). This manualized transmission is equipped with three pedals and an H-pattern shifter, providing a unique driving experience.

According to Ben Sulayem, the manual Regera will eschew a hybrid powertrain in favor of a pure V8 engine setup. While this configuration will reduce the overall power output, the V8 engine is expected to deliver an impressive 1600 horsepower.

The standard Koenigsegg Regera boasts a formidable powertrain, combining a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with three electric motors to deliver a staggering 1,500 horsepower and 1087 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, rival automaker Ferrari is also working on its own version of an Engage Shift System, set to debut on the forthcoming 12Cilindri MM model.
