BMW Unveils Revamped 7 Series With Biggest Facelift Yet

Amidst the X5 buzz, the spotlight shifts to Dingolfing, where the refreshed BMW 7 Series has just entered production. While not a complete redesign, the 7 Series receives substantial changes, earning it the title of the “most comprehensive model update in company history” by BMW. Today marked the debut of the initial G70 units rolling off the assembly line.

Unique to the BMW lineup, the 7 Series is exclusively manufactured at a single plant in southern Bavaria. This facility also produces the 4 Series, 5 Series, and iX models. The 8 Series was previously assembled here as well. Later in the year, the next-generation 3 Series Sedan (G50) will join the roster. Similar to the 5 Series, the 7 Series offers four powertrain options: gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid, and electric.

Just over two months since its unveiling, the 7 Series LCI has swiftly entered series production. Noteworthy models include the i7 M70 and a two-tone 740d featuring a matte finish. Each 7 Series model requires approximately 75 hours to assemble, with about 33 hours involving manual labor alongside automated processes.

Personalization Galore: The 2027 BMW 7 Series Offers Over 1,000 Options

Buyers can indulge in a plethora of customization choices for their vehicles. BMW provides more than 500 color options and combinations, coupled with about 700 equipment and interior material configurations. Wealthy purchasers can even request bespoke vehicles tailored to their unique preferences, akin to Rolls-Royce-level customization where every detail is meticulously perfected.

Priced at €14,000, the Dual-Finish option stands out as the most expensive offering in the German configurator. This premium feature combines matte and gloss versions of Tanzanite Blue through a meticulous 75-hour painting process, six times longer than a standard paint job. Over 20 specialized employees meticulously execute the 12-step painting procedure, showcasing BMW’s dedication to unique finishes.

Later this year, Dingolfing will commence production of the ALPINA-badged 7 Series, denoted as the G72 model. Unlike previous iterations, the new ALPINA variant will be available with both gasoline and electric powertrains, offering heightened luxury beyond the standard G70 models. With anticipated price points surpassing those of the base model, the ALPINA versions are poised to be exclusive and rare in the market.
