SpaceX Surpasses Record for Starlink Satellite Deployments
SpaceX has made significant strides in its Starlink satellite deployments, exceeding the previous year’s record-setting pace. In the first half of 2026, SpaceX successfully launched 1,589 Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit, as reported by Jonathan McDowell’s satellite tracker. This marks a notable increase from the 1,489 satellites deployed during the same period in 2025.
The year 2025 was already a milestone for SpaceX, with a total of 3,180 Starlink satellites deployed. Since the inception of the Starlink constellation, SpaceX has launched over 12,400 satellites, with nearly 11,000 of them still operational.
In comparison, Amazon’s Leo service has only deployed approximately 400 satellites over the past 15 months, aiming for a total constellation size of 3,232 satellites. This highlights the impressive capability of SpaceX’s reusable Falcon 9 rocket, capable of deploying a space internet constellation similar in size to Leo’s on an annual basis.
