Xpeng Australia Unleashes Cutting-Edge Models to Challenge Tesla and Zeekr
Xpeng, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has unveiled ambitious plans to introduce four new models to the Australian market within the next six months. This move is part of the company’s strategy to expand its product lineup beyond the G6 SUV and enhance its presence in the region.
During the inaugural Brand Day event held in Melbourne, Xpeng’s head of marketing and creativity, Damian Royce, announced the upcoming launch of these new models, which will include an updated version of the G6. The expansion will also involve increasing the number of Xpeng dealers in Australia from 13 to 50.
One of the upcoming models is the X9 electric people mover, set to be released in the third quarter of 2026. This seven-seat vehicle will compete with popular electric models like the Denza D9, Volkswagen ID. Buzz, and Zeekr 009.
Xpeng has confirmed that the X9 will be available in two variants in Australia: a front-wheel-drive Standard Range model starting at $89,900 and a Performance AWD flagship priced at $109,900. The X9 features cutting-edge technology such as an 800V electrical architecture, ultra-fast charging capabilities, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality.
In addition to the X9, Xpeng will also introduce an updated version of the G6 electric SUV, offering four different model grades with varying specifications and price points. The G6 lineup will include a Standard Range model, a Long Range model, and two Performance versions, all powered by advanced electric drivetrains.
Furthermore, Xpeng is gearing up to launch the L03 mid-size SUV in the final quarter of the year, followed by the G9L large SUV and the L05 premium model in early 2027. These new additions to the Xpeng lineup are designed to cater to different market segments and offer a wide range of options to Australian consumers.
The company’s expansion plans come after taking over local distribution from TrueEV in April 2026, with a focus on increasing the number of dealerships and reaching more customers. Xpeng is committed to honoring previous offers and ensuring a smooth transition for existing customers as it continues to grow its presence in the Australian market.
Stay tuned for more updates on Xpeng’s exciting new models and explore the Xpeng showroom for a closer look at their innovative electric vehicles.
