Microsoft’s Clippy-like Mico character is no longer the face of Copilot

Microsoft Copilot’s Emotive Yellow Blob, Mico, to Transition to Learn Live Platform

In a recent update, Microsoft has announced that its chatbot, Copilot, will no longer feature Mico, the emotive yellow blob, in voice mode. Instead, Mico will be relocated to Microsoft’s Learn Live platform, where the avatar will have more interactive opportunities, according to a report by GeekWire.

The retirement of Mico adds it to the list of virtual assistants that Microsoft has phased out over the years, including Clippy, Cortana, and Rover. Microsoft’s support page reflects on Mico’s role in understanding warmth, expressiveness, and user interactions with AI. These insights will influence future developments of Copilot. The removal of Mico from Copilot will be done gradually in phases.
