Pop star and actress Selena Gomez, along with her mother, are facing a lawsuit regarding their mental health startup, Wondermind. The lawsuit claims that investors put in nearly $1.2 million into the startup, only to be met with allegations of securities fraud and breach of contract against Gomez.

According to the plaintiffs, Wondermind failed to meet its obligations to investors without prior notice, and Gomez allegedly did not uphold her promise to promote the startup. This news was initially reported by Forbes.

Background of Wondermind

Launched in 2021, Wondermind set out to provide daily mental health resources to its users. However, the lawsuit reveals that investors were kept in the dark about the company’s struggles until a 2025 article by The Cut exposed the truth.

The complaint states, “Gomez committed to certain actions in a contract but failed to follow through. Promised partnerships were nonexistent, initiatives never came to fruition, and the app was never developed. Throughout the company’s silent collapse over three years, none of its key figures informed the investors who were financing its downfall.”

Allegations of Misrepresentation

Investors claim that Gomez and Wondermind misrepresented the financial status of the company and exaggerated Gomez’s level of involvement. As a result, the plaintiffs are seeking a refund of their investments along with legal expenses.

Despite these serious allegations, Wondermind has yet to provide a response to requests for comment.
