2XKO development to shut down at the end of the year

Riot Games Announces End of Development for 2XKO

Riot Games recently made a significant announcement regarding their free-to-play League of Legends fighter, 2XKO. After experiencing a reduction in the development team shortly after its launch, Riot Games has confirmed that all active development on the game will cease by the end of 2026.

According to Riot Games, the decision to end active development on 2XKO was based on the game’s trajectory and player retention rates. Despite attracting a dedicated community of players, the game did not see enough sustained interest to ensure its long-term sustainability.

While active development will cease, Riot Games has assured players that servers will remain operational beyond 2026, allowing players to continue enjoying the game on all platforms. The company plans to introduce new content, feature improvements, and two new champions, Lux and Samira, before releasing a final bug fix patch in December of this year.

As part of their efforts to support existing players, Riot Games has announced that all champions will be unlocked, and most cosmetic items will be bundled together. Additionally, players who have made purchases in 2XKO on or before August 20 will receive a full refund. Any content owned by players will be retained, with avatar and player profile items becoming unlockable for Credits in a future patch.

Riot Games expressed their commitment to honoring the players and developers who have supported 2XKO, acknowledging the dedication that went into the game’s creation. The company detailed their journey with 2XKO, highlighting the initial success within the FGC community but ultimately recognizing the challenges in retaining a broader player base.
