Grand Theft Auto 6 Leaker Manhunt Intensifies as Take-Two Pursues Microsoft and Discord for Evidence
The Hunt for GTA 6 Leakers: Take-Two’s Pursuit of Cyberleek
Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games, is on a mission to uncover the identity of the individual or group responsible for leaking information about the highly anticipated GTA 6. After battling a barrage of leaked content and issuing takedown notices, Take-Two has taken legal action by filing subpoenas in federal court, targeting Microsoft and Discord for their cooperation in revealing the identities behind the leaks.
According to a report by Kotaku, a subpoena filed in the Southern District Court of New York on August 20th referenced “copyrighted material,” including audiovisual content, artwork, and dialogue. The purpose of these subpoenas is to identify the alleged infringers and protect Take-Two’s intellectual property rights.
The subpoena demands Microsoft to provide internal business and investigative records related to the ‘cyberleek’ persona by September 4th. Cyberleek is the alias used by the individual(s) responsible for the leaks. Discord has also been requested to disclose identifying information of users associated with specific servers from June 1st onwards.
Take-Two is seeking a range of information from Discord, including account IDs, registration details, IP addresses, phone numbers, and any content related to GTA, Rockstar, or Cyberleek. Notably, one of the Discord servers listed belongs to popular GTA YouTuber, DarkViperAU, who expressed confusion over his possible connection to the leaks.
Despite the ongoing investigation, Rockstar and Take-Two have not publicly commented on the leaks. It is advised for the public to steer clear of any leaked GTA 6 content and avoid downloading unauthorized files claiming to be early builds of the game.
