Alien Deathstorm: Two-Player Co-op Play Revealed at Gamescom

During Gamescom last week, Rebellion unveiled a key feature of their upcoming action-horror title, Alien Deathstorm: the game will feature two-player co-op gameplay. This means that players won’t have to face the xenos threat or the harsh weather conditions alone.

Producer Martin Willingham shared the exciting news, stating, “We are pleased to announce that the campaign will be playable in two-player co-op. However, we are still fine-tuning this aspect of the game, so stay tuned for more details.”

Cooperative multiplayer has been a staple in many Rebellion games, such as Sniper Elite and Strange Brigade. In the case of Alien Deathstorm, which is described as an action-horror game, co-op play adds a new dimension to the gameplay experience without compromising the tension and thrill of the genre.

Martin elaborated on how co-op play can influence the gameplay, explaining, “Player choice will play a significant role in determining the atmosphere of the game. Whether players choose to stick together or split up can impact the difficulty level and the overall experience.”

Alien Deathstorm offers sandbox levels with multiple objectives, allowing players the freedom to explore and strategize together or separately. The game’s dynamic difficulty system is still being refined to accommodate the cooperative gameplay.

Set on an off-world colony ravaged by a massive mega-storm, players assume the role of a Combat Engineer tasked with investigating the loss of communications and preparing for a rescue mission. However, they soon discover that the colony is infested with deadly aliens, presenting a formidable challenge.
