Struggling to Get Excited About Xiaomi’s New 18 Fold

Finding enthusiasm for Xiaomi’s latest innovation, the 18 Fold, proves to be a challenge, especially as an avid Android user.

Even though the Xiaomi 18 Fold may remain exclusive to China, it appears to outshine competitors like the iPhone Duo and Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 in three crucial aspects.

Priority on Camera Quality

The iPhone 18 Pro Max has solidified its position as a top-tier camera phone globally, building upon the success of its predecessor, the iPhone 17 Pro Max, renowned for its video capabilities.

In contrast, Apple seems to have made significant compromises with its pricier device, the iPhone Duo. By eliminating the telephoto lens and opting for a 48Mp main and ultrawide lens, Apple falls short of the camera features present in the 18 Pro and Pro Max models.

The absence of a telephoto sensor in the iPhone Duo has raised concerns as it plays a vital role in zoom photography, offering optical quality up to 4x magnification. Additionally, it enhances portrait-style photos by providing depth perception alongside the main lens.

By omitting this feature, Apple seems to downplay the importance of zoom capabilities on smartphones, a sentiment that may not resonate with photography enthusiasts.
