Amazon’s Quick AI Assistant: Mobile Expansion Rivalry with Microsoft and Google
Amazon Quick’s New Activity Feed Enhances Mobile Experience
Amazon recently announced the integration of its Activity Feed and other key features from the Quick desktop app into the mobile versions for both iOS and Android.
At the core of Amazon Quick is the Activity Feed, a unique feature that consolidates various communication channels such as email, Slack messages, calendar invites, and CRM updates into a single, prioritized list. This innovative approach enables users to seamlessly interact with different items, such as opening and responding to emails, without the need to switch between multiple apps.
Furthermore, Amazon revealed that the Quick desktop app, which was initially released in preview in April, is now widely available on Windows and macOS. Notably, Quick’s agents now operate in the cloud, ensuring continuous functionality even when a laptop is closed, with results being delivered directly to the feed.
The synchronization between the desktop and mobile apps has also been enhanced, allowing users to seamlessly transition tasks from one device to another. For instance, a task initiated on a laptop can effortlessly be continued on a smartphone.
Amazon Quick offers a free tier, with paid individual plans starting at $20 per user per month (billed annually), while business plans range from $20 to $40 per user per month.
As Amazon’s foray into the competitive AI assistant market, Quick competes with established players like Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, OpenAI, and Anthropic. The company highlighted key business clients, including Southwest Airlines, LabCorp, and the PGA Tour, who have benefited from using Quick.
The rapid development of the desktop app is attributed to Amazon’s innovative approach of utilizing small teams to expedite the process. Swami Sivasubramanian, AWS’s vice president of agentic AI, shared in an interview with GeekWire that a team of approximately six engineers commenced work in late January and successfully shipped the product by April 28.
