New McLaren logo pays homage to Bruce McLaren and brand's Kiwi roots

McLaren recently unveiled a new logo, joining the trend of automakers refreshing their branding. Unlike some controversial rebrands, McLaren’s change pays homage to its founder, Bruce McLaren. The new logo features capitalized letters and eliminates the red ‘streamlined speedmark’.

The updated logo draws inspiration from Bruce McLaren’s early days in motoring, with the text resembling the hand-painted ‘McLaren’s’ from the family’s original service station in Auckland. Additionally, McLaren introduced a new typeface called ‘McLaren Sans’.

McLaren has confirmed that the ‘speedmark’ and ‘Speedy Kiwi’ slogan will remain part of their brand identity. The new logo will be used on both road cars and Formula 1 race cars.

According to McLaren CEO David Woodhouse, the new logo reflects the company’s innovative spirit and marks the beginning of a new chapter. McLaren Racing’s CMO, Lou McEwen, highlighted the collaborative effort to explore McLaren’s history and design elements.

The announcement of the new logo follows McLaren’s plan to develop its first performance SUV as part of a significant investment in UK manufacturing. Explore the McLaren showroom for more information. Transform the following sentence into a question:
