Google Nearing Launch of Gemini 4 AI Model

According to reports, Google is on the brink of unveiling its highly anticipated Gemini 4 model, catching up with rival developers in the AI race. Koray Kavukcuoglu, the head of Google’s DeepMind division, revealed in an interview with The Information that Gemini 4 is currently undergoing refinement and is expected to be launched much sooner than initially anticipated.

Kavukcuoglu expressed the company’s eagerness to release an early post-training output of Gemini 4 to showcase the promising results. He emphasized Google’s commitment to a rapid development cycle, signaling a return to a more consistent AI release schedule following recent leadership changes at DeepMind.

The last flagship AI model released by Google was the Gemini 3 series in November 2025, with competitors like OpenAI and Anthropic launching superior models since then. Despite setbacks, Google remains optimistic about staying at the forefront of AI innovation.

In response to concerns about falling behind in AI development, Kavukcuoglu highlighted Google’s strategic shift towards introducing more agile Flash models instead of releasing Gemini 3.5 Pro. He affirmed the company’s relentless pursuit of cutting-edge technology and its determination to lead the industry.
