Apple’s Highly Anticipated Smart Home Hub Set to Debut on October 13th

According to a report by Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, Apple is gearing up to unveil its long-rumored smart home hub on October 13th. This new addition to Apple’s product lineup will be accompanied by the introduction of a new HomePod mini and an upgraded Apple TV device.

The smart home hub is expected to showcase Apple’s revamped AI-powered assistant, Siri AI. Representing a new product category for Apple, the hub will serve as the focal point of the trio. Reports suggest that it will feature a 6-inch display that can be wall-mounted or placed on a countertop. Gurman describes the hub as being “about as thick as an iPhone” with bezels reminiscent of older iPad models.

In terms of design, the hub is said to bear a resemblance to Apple’s iMac G4, featuring a round metal base housing speakers, microphones, and a metal arm for screen support. This design allows for tilting, and Apple is rumored to offer a wall-mounted version with a slimmer base for the speakers and microphones.

Powering the home hub will be a USB-C power supply, as the device eschews an internal battery. Consumers can expect the hub to come in Apple’s signature gray aluminum finish.

The new operating system centered around Siri AI is poised to feature iPad-like apps, with reports indicating a two-panel layout for the Messages app. Additionally, the hub will support a range of functions including controlling smart devices, video calls, music playback, photo slideshows, and intercom-style communication.
