Uncertain Future for Ninja Theory Employees

Following recent revelations from Microsoft regarding the potential closure of Ninja Theory, the creators of Hellblade, it appears that the studio is in the process of notifying its staff about possible job cuts. Two attempts to acquire the studio after its split from Xbox have fallen through, leaving employees in a state of uncertainty.

Several Ninja Theory developers have taken to LinkedIn to express their concerns about potential redundancies and their search for new career opportunities. Alessio Mellina, a long-time developer at Ninja Theory, shared, “After almost 12 years at Ninja Theory, my role is now at risk of redundancy. I am actively seeking new opportunities, leveraging my expertise as the sole Technical Sound Designer at Ninja Theory.”

Xoe Suvari, a performance capture technician, bid farewell to Ninja Theory, stating, “Even if I knew how it would end, I would do it again.” The sentiment of dedication and passion for their work is echoed by many others in the studio.

Katrin Mair, a gameplay programmer, lamented the potential abandonment of the Senua game project, expressing sadness over the possibility of not being able to see the project to completion. Other team members, including technical director Loong-Wei Ding, sound designers Matteo Tummino and Daniele Galante, senior technical artist Matt Le-Fevre, and character artist Pietro Berto, have also shared their concerns about redundancies and job searches.

The gradual disclosure of staff members facing possible job cuts suggests that employees are being informed in stages or may be taking time to process the situation before making their individual circumstances public.
