Google Enhances Fitbit Air with Health Guardian Feature and Automatic Workout Tracking

Google has recently introduced a new Health Guardian feature to the Fitbit Air, aiming to bridge the gap between the device and its competitors. This feature is reminiscent of the Health Report available to Whoop Strap users, showcasing Google’s commitment to improving the Fitbit Air’s capabilities.

In addition to the Health Guardian, Google has also expanded the automatic workout tracking functionality of the Fitbit Air. Previously limited to detecting only 10 workouts without user input, the device can now recognize up to 100 unique exercises automatically, providing users with a more comprehensive fitness tracking experience.

Google has enhanced the Fitbit Air’s automatic workout tracking by leveraging contextual reasoning within the Google Health app. The app now identifies common workouts in users’ routines, resulting in a 100% increase in accuracy compared to previous versions.

Furthermore, the Fitbit Air now offers compatibility with a wider range of third-party apps, including Flo Health for menstrual cycle tracking and MyFitnessPal for meal and nutrition logging. Users in the US can also integrate Abbott’s Lingo for blood glucose data, enhancing the device’s health monitoring capabilities.

In a fashion-forward move, Google has introduced a new Metal Mesh band for the Fitbit Air, transforming the fitness tracker into a stylish accessory for users.

Despite these advancements, Google has discontinued the classic Fitbit app, redirecting users to the newer Google Health app. This transition marks a shift towards a more integrated health and fitness ecosystem for Fitbit Air users.
