Advancing Defence Robotics: Quantum Systems and Tencore’s New German Manufacturing Hub
Quantum Tencore Industries (QTI), a collaboration between Quantum Systems, a German startup, and Tencore, a Ukrainian UGV manufacturer, has been chosen to supply 2,000 TerMIT unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) to the Ukrainian Armed Forces within the next year.
This partnership under the “Build with Ukraine” initiative marks the second joint venture between the two companies, with manufacturing set to take place in Germany.
Hendrik Kramer, the Managing Director of Quantum Tencore Industries, expressed that UGVs have significantly impacted battlefield operations in Ukraine over the past year. By combining Ukrainian ground systems with German industrial expertise, QTI aims to enhance strategic capacity in modern warfare.
Quantum Systems recently secured a €150 million financing package from the European Investment Bank, reflecting their growth and success in the industry.
The defense technology sector, particularly robotics and unmanned systems, is experiencing significant growth, with a focus on autonomy capabilities such as drone software orchestration, battlefield algorithms, AI infrastructure, and counter-UAS technologies.
Maksym Vasylchenko, the CEO of Tencore, emphasized the effectiveness of Ukrainian ground robotic systems developed under real operational conditions. The partnership with Quantum Systems will allow for the scaling of these systems in Germany to meet the demands of Ukrainian forces.
Both companies share a commitment to interoperable unmanned defense systems, combining Quantum Systems’ aerial autonomy and software expertise with Tencore’s proven ground robotics.
Quantum Systems, founded in 2015, specializes in interoperable unmanned systems and software that connect various platforms and technologies for seamless operations.
Tencore, established in 2024, focuses on ground robotic systems designed in collaboration with military units. Their flagship UGV, TerMIT, has been deployed in combat situations and is known for its reliability and performance under fire.
QTI’s manufacturing and delivery model leverage Ukrainian innovation and German industrial capabilities to produce ground robotic systems at a rapid pace.
Supported by the German Ministry of Defence, the program will facilitate the immediate ramp-up of manufacturing activities in Germany, creating skilled employment opportunities.
The procurement of 2,000 TerMIT UGVs represents one of the largest acquisitions of unmanned ground vehicles in Europe, highlighting the growing importance of ground robotics in military operations.
TerMIT is a versatile UGV designed for various ground missions, equipped with software-defined capabilities for continuous growth and integration into Quantum Systems’ platform.
Overall, the collaboration between Quantum Systems and Tencore signifies a significant step towards advancing unmanned defense systems and strengthening the capabilities of modern militaries.
