AI, Athletes, and Keith Rabois: The Return of StrictlyVC in New York on September 10
TechCrunch’s exclusive evening event series, StrictlyVC, is making its way to the West Village in New York City on Thursday, September 10. This event marks the first time in two years that StrictlyVC has held an event in New York, following successful nights in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Athens earlier this year.
The lineup for the evening is stacked with industry heavyweights and promises to be an engaging and informative night for all attendees. The event will kick off with a fireside chat featuring Keith Rabois, a well-known figure in the venture capital world who recently made the move from Silicon Valley to the East Coast. Rabois is known for his strong opinions on venture capital and will share his thoughts on various topics, including the trend of founders raising more capital than necessary. He will also discuss Khosla Ventures’ bold investment in OpenAI and the challenges facing the company in the current landscape.
Following Rabois’ chat, the evening will continue with a conversation between Craig Shapiro, the founder of Collaborative Fund, and Jason Levien, the CEO of D.C. United. The discussion will focus on sports organizations as business investments and the intersection of sports, fandom, commerce, and community.
The event will also feature Tristan Walker, founder of Heirloom Craft, and Brynn Putnam, founder of Board. Both entrepreneurs have had successful exits with their previous companies and are now focused on building new ventures that address societal issues and promote community engagement.
Deven Parekh, co-founder of Insight Partners, will also be in attendance to discuss the evolving landscape of venture capital and the challenges and opportunities that come with managing a successful investment firm in today’s market.
Attendees can look forward to a night filled with networking opportunities, drinks, and hors d’oeuvres, all set against the backdrop of the historic West Village. Special thanks to Collaborative Fund for their support in making the event possible.
