BMW Teases Future Wagon Lineup for US Market
Exploring the Future of BMW Wagons in America
- Recent discussions at a private U.S. conference hinted at BMW’s potential plans to introduce more wagons in the American market
- Confirmed upcoming releases include the G51 3 Series Touring and the first-ever i3 Touring, with expectations for an M3 Touring ICE and M3 Electric Wagon (ZA1) to follow
- The projected timeline suggests the ZA1 could arrive in 2028, with the ICE M3 Touring potentially appearing by 2029, meeting high demand for the G81 M3 Touring
In a discreet conversation last May in Nashville, BMW hinted at the possibility of expanding its wagon lineup in the U.S., inspired by the success of the G99 M5 Touring. The feedback from American dealers has been positive, leading to considerations for introducing the next 3 Series wagon in the U.S. market.
Bernd Körber, Head of Product Management, revealed discussions around potential Touring models, highlighting the strong reception of the 5 Series Touring. The company has already confirmed the development of the G51 3 Series Touring and the NA1 i3 Touring, indicating a strategic shift towards offering more wagon options.
Potential Arrival of M3 Touring Models
Anticipation surrounds the potential introduction of M3 Touring variants, including a combustion engine version and an electric ZA1 model. While the ZA1 is expected by 2028, the ICE M3 Touring may arrive as early as 2029, catering to evolving consumer preferences.
Considering the current market dynamics, the combustion M3 Touring might be favored over the electric ZA1 in the U.S. However, BMW remains open to adapting its lineup based on demand signals, as seen with the M5 Touring’s success.
Enthusiasts eagerly await the arrival of an M3 Touring in America, with the G81 model being highly sought after. The collective interest from fans and industry influencers suggests a growing likelihood of BMW fulfilling this demand in the coming years.
Overall, the potential expansion of BMW’s wagon offerings reflects a strategic response to market trends and consumer preferences, signaling an exciting future for wagon enthusiasts in America.
