Creoir Secures Seed Investment from Gungnir Capital for Defence AI Development

Creoir, a DefenceTech company based in Oulu, is making strides in the development of voice AI for defence and mission-critical systems. Recently, the company announced that it has successfully raised a Seed investment from Gungnir Capital, a Swedish VC fund. With Gungnir Capital leading the ongoing Seed round, Creoir aims to reach its €2 million funding target.

The infusion of capital will enable Creoir to expedite the commercialisation of its EdgeVUI and Operator Assistant products. These solutions have been designed to cater to the increasing demand from European defence customers seeking innovative voice AI technologies.

Antti Lilja, CEO and co-founder of Creoir, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership with Gungnir Capital. He emphasized the importance of hands-free voice interaction in enhancing operator efficiency and mission focus, particularly in high-pressure defence environments.

Established in 2012 by Antti Lilja, Jaakko Mattila, and Oskari Ketola, Creoir specializes in embedded speech technologies and AI solutions tailored for the defence industry. The company’s core mission is to help partners future-proof command-and-control systems, reduce operator cognitive load, and enhance situational awareness through secure, on-device voice AI capabilities.

Creoir’s EdgeVUI empowers defence operators to interact with systems using voice commands in their native language, without the need for cloud connectivity. The Operator Assistant product serves as an AI-powered knowledge base, providing instant access to critical information for mission success.

One of Creoir’s key innovations is the integration of Natural Language Understanding (NLU) tools, Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Text-to-Speech (TTS), and Speech Signal Enhancement (SSE) technologies from Cerence AI. These technologies operate entirely on the device, ensuring offline functionality in noisy, security-critical defence environments.
