Google Discover is getting an AI chatbot-tuned feed

Personalize Your Google Discover Feed with AI

Google is introducing a new feature that will allow users to customize their Discover feed by specifying their preferences. This feature, powered by artificial intelligence (AI), is set to roll out to the Google app in the coming days. The AI will automatically adjust the feed based on user input and remember these preferences for future visits.

To access this customization option, users can find it within the three-dot menu on their Discover feed. By tapping on the feature, a chatbot-style interface will open, allowing users to describe their preferences. The chatbot will confirm the choices and outline the types of content it will prioritize. Users also have the option to provide additional information if needed. To apply the changes, users can simply hit “Refresh your feed.”

This new feature aims to give users more control over the content they see in their Discover feed, which recommends articles based on their activity across Google’s search engine and apps. Similar customization options have been introduced by other platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, Bluesky, and X.

Other Updates from Google

In addition to the personalized Discover feed, Google has announced a couple of other changes. Users can now personalize their daily audio briefings in the Google News app on Android.

There is also an update to Preferred Sources, a feature that allows users to see more content from their favorite outlets in Search’s “top stories” section, AI Overviews, and AI Mode. Publishers can now include an interactive “Preferred Sources” button on their websites, enabling readers to quickly add them to their list without leaving the page.
