Exclusive Leak: New Apple TV 4K and HomePod Mini Details Revealed in tvOS

Apple is rumored to be gearing up for a major event next Tuesday that will focus on its plans for the home entertainment market. Reports suggest that the event will showcase new products including an Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini, and a long-awaited smart home hub.

Tech journalist Mark Gurman of Bloomberg initially hinted at October 13 as the potential date for the event. While details about the format of the event were initially unclear, it seems likely that Apple will want to host a formal event to unveil its rumored “J490” home hub. Recent reports have confirmed this speculation, suggesting that Apple may be limiting in-person attendance to a select group rather than sending out traditional press invites.

The latest tvOS 27.2 beta release contains hints about the capabilities of the upcoming fourth-generation Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini. Speculation points to the set-top box receiving an A19 chip to support Apple Intelligence and Siri AI features. The code in the beta release also suggests new functionalities like the ability for Siri to read text messages from nearby iPhones and display smart reply options on the Apple TV.

Rumors about the RAM capacity of the new Apple TV 4K suggest that it may vary depending on the chip used. The device could either come with 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM, with the latter potentially being powered by the A19 Pro chip from the iPhone 17 Pro lineup. This increased RAM capacity would be crucial for handling advanced AI tasks, especially if the Apple TV 4K is expected to work closely with the new HomePod mini.

Further code references hint at Apple’s plans to create a quad-HomePod Home Theater setup. The company may be working on features that enable seamless integration between multiple HomePod speakers and other Apple devices for a surround sound experience. Additionally, new symbols found in macOS 27.2 beta suggest visual representations of speaker setups for home theater systems.

While a full-sized HomePod update is not expected until next year, it is likely that the new features being developed by Apple will be compatible with existing HomePod models or will serve as a foundation for future releases. These developments may rely on the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K and its advanced A19-class chip for optimal performance.
