The Evolution of Samsung Galaxy Watches: A Look at the Latest Updates

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch series has undergone significant changes in recent years. With the release of the Galaxy Watch 7 series, Samsung announced that the Classic model would follow a two-year cycle, while the Pro model was replaced by the Watch Ultra.

In line with this, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic made its debut last year, signaling a shift in Samsung’s smartwatch lineup. Many expected a break in 2026 after the release of the Watch 8 Classic.

However, speculation arose in late May when references to ‘wise9’ were discovered in the Wear OS app. ‘Wise’ is the codename for the Classic model, while ‘fresh’ represents the regular Samsung smartwatch. This discovery hinted at a possible update to the Classic model sooner than anticipated.

As rumors circulated about a potential Galaxy Watch 9 Classic, leaks leading up to Unpacked, including detailed insights from sources like Evan Blass, indicated otherwise. The absence of any mention of the Galaxy Watch 9 Classic left many wondering about the future of Samsung’s smartwatch lineup.

Following the Unpacked event, it became clear that the Galaxy Watch 9 Classic was not part of Samsung’s immediate plans. Enthusiasts may have to wait until 2027 to see the release of the Galaxy Watch 10, which is expected to feature a rotating bezel design.

When contacted for comment, Samsung provided a standard response: “Samsung don’t speculate or comment on upcoming product launches.” This cautious approach to product teasers is common among tech companies, aiming to maintain a level of secrecy around future releases.
