Instagram’s Controversial ‘Pay or Consent’ Ad Approach Set to Launch in UK Amid EU Rejection
Meta Introduces “Pay or Consent” Ad Model in the UK
After overcoming regulatory hurdles, Meta is set to launch its controversial “pay or consent” ad model in the UK. This update will require Instagram and Facebook users to make a choice between personalized ads or ad-free subscriptions.
Subscription Pricing Details
Users accessing the platform via web browsers can opt for a subscription starting at £2.99 per month, approximately $4. However, Android and iOS users will face higher charges of £3.99 per month, around $5.33. Meta attributes the discrepancy in pricing to the fees imposed by Apple and Google.
All or Nothing Approach
Meta’s subscription model follows a strict all-in or all-out policy. Users must subscribe to all their accounts or none at all. Additional accounts will incur extra fees of either £2 or £3 per month.
