Introducing the 2026 Honda ZR-V: The Ultimate SUV Upgrade
Honda to Launch Updated ZR-V SUV in Australia in May
Honda is set to introduce the refreshed ZR-V SUV to the Australian market in May, just two months after its initial debut in Japan. The 2026 ZR-V will come with a range of updates, including styling enhancements, deeper integration with Google services, and a shift to a hybrid-only lineup, although the specific changes for the Australian models are yet to be confirmed.
During the unveiling of the updated CR-V, Honda Australia President and CEO Jay Joseph hinted at what consumers can expect from the ZR-V. According to Mr. Joseph, the ZR-V will receive similar updates to those seen on the CR-V.
The revised CR-V lineup now offers four hybrid options, indicating that Honda may also introduce additional petrol-electric variants of the ZR-V. This move aligns with Honda’s strategy to expand its hybrid offerings across different models like the HR-V and Civic, aiming to compete with popular models such as the Toyota RAV4.
While the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine has been removed from the ZR-V in Japan, its fate in the Australian market remains uncertain. Additionally, Australian ZR-Vs are likely to feature Google Built-in with integrated Google apps like Google Maps and Google Assistant, a feature present in the updated CR-V.
Japan has introduced three new exterior color options for the ZR-V – Twilight Mist Black Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, and Seabed Blue Pearl. The styling updates across the ZR-V range include new alloy wheel designs, a redesigned honeycomb grille, gloss black exterior accents, door protection strips, and a more aggressive front bumper design with faux bash plates.
In 2021, Honda sold 3940 units of the ZR-V in Australia, making it the brand’s third best-selling model after the CR-V and HR-V. The upcoming launch of the updated ZR-V aims to further strengthen Honda’s position in the competitive SUV market.
